Romance in Medieval Byzantium...

This is a brief post to say that my second Byzantine romance has been accepted!  I am over the moon.  Ideas for the story jumped into my head whilst I was writing Bound to the Barbarian.   Originally I had planned to write two Byzantine novels, but now it looks as though there may be three Palace Brides (fingers crossed).   The title has not yet been decided, I will post again when I know.
Above is a plan of the Imperial Palace in Contantinople around the time of the novels.  Seeing this plan really helped when envisioning the novels.  (Source: Wikipedia)

Walk Near Basildon Park...

At the week-end we got away to the country for a break.  (I had been finishing my revisions and had got to the stage where a change of scene was necessary as I couldn't 'see' the manuscript any more).    Basildon Park is where they shot part of the Keira Knightly/Matthew Macfadyen Pride and Prejudice (2005) so of course we had to go into the house too.    It is a National Trust property and there's a small exhibition about the shooting of the film.  This costume is on display.

And here is another view of the exterior of the house foregrounded by daffodils.

The country air seemed to do the trick, as I have sent the mansucript of another Byzantine novel (medieval) off to my editor.  Fingers crossed!
